Yul Brynner and George Chakiris star as rulers of two rival cultures who are forced to form an alliance against a mutual threat. Young king Balam (Chakiris) leads the Mayan people out of Mexico to escape a hostile clan in hot pursuit. When an Indian tribe attacks, Balam captures their leader (Brynner) and the two slowly grow toward mutual respect. But can the partnership withstand the attack of Balam's old rivals?
