Medea

Director Lars von Trier's made-for-television version of this Greek tragedy takes place in Denmark, where Jason (Udo Kier) has betrayed his onetime love, Medea (Kirsten Olesen), who vows to exact revenge against him as well as the couple's children. This wonderfully imaginative look at the fury of a woman scorned -- based on a script by Carl Theodore Dreyer -- plays out in sparkling marshlands and dismal, bottomless channels.
