Indefatigable Detective Chief Inspector Barnaby (John Nettles) takes a "working vacation" so he can redecorate his digs. But before rolling up his shirtsleeves, he pays a call on his Aunt Alice (Phyllis Calvert), who's convalescing from an operation at the Lawnside Nursing Home. Murder inevitably rears its head when several of Alice's fellow patients die mysteriously after altering their wills. Good thing the Chief Inspector's on the case.
