Tom Sizemore was born in Detroit on September 29, 1964, and forged a career in regional and Off-Broadway theater before gaining notoriety as a serious film actor in the 1990s by working with some of the best directors in the business, including Steven Spielberg, Michael Mann, Martin Scorsese and Oliver Stone. In just 10 years' time, Sizemore had turned in a series of stand-out performances in films such as True Romance (1993), Natural Born Killers (1994), Heat (1995), Saving Private Ryan (1998), Bringing Out the Dead (1999) and Black Hawk Down (2001).
But his high-profile battle with substance abuse and a subsequent prison sentence -- an ordeal chronicled in the VH1 reality series "Shooting Sizemore" (2007) -- put his career in serious jeopardy. Determined to keep working, Sizemore bounced back from rehab with renewed vigor and signed on to 12 feature films in 2007 alone.
