Storm appeared in a string of dramas, Westerns and musicals with RKO, but it was the young redhead's portrayal of 21-year-old Margie Albright on "My Little Margie" (co-starring opposite silent-film star Charles Farrell) that propelled her to instant fame. She later headlined "The Gale Storm Show," playing globe-trotting cruise director Susanna Pomeroy.
Storm also gained notoriety as a singer, selling more than 1 million copies with her first single, "I Hear You Knockin'," and hitting No. 4 on the Billboard charts with "Dark Moon." She died June 27, 2009, at the age of 87.
