In 2004, Bright broke into feature films with strong performances in The Butterfly Effect, Godsend and opposite Nicole Kidman in Birth (for which he earned rave reviews for his portrayal of the reincarnation of Kidman's long-dead husband).
Plum roles have continued to come Bright's way, and in 2006, he delivered another fine trio of performances in the mob drama Running Scared, the sci-fi thriller Ultraviolet (with Milla Jovovich) and the big-budget blockbuster X-Men 3: The Last Stand (opposite Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry and Ian McKellen).
