Clint Eastwood
Clint EastwoodThe son of a steelworker, Clint Eastwood was born May 31, 1930, in San Francisco and toiled as a logger and a gas station attendant before moving to Hollywood.

After attaining minor fame in the TV series "Rawhide," Eastwood became a star in the wake of director Sergio Leone's spaghetti Western trilogy A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. With a face and presence born to play rugged roles, Eastwood continued to turn heads in Dirty Harry (1971) and In the Line of Fire (1993).

Eastwood has also worked behind the camera and achieved directorial success in 1992 with his Oscar-winning Western Unforgiven. His Academy recognition continued with Best Director nods for Mystic River (2003) and Letters from Iwo Jima (2006), with a win for Million Dollar Baby in between. He scored another honor in 2009 with a Golden Globe nod as Best Director for Invictus.
