Brad Pitt was born Dec. 18, 1963, in Shawnee, Okla., and raised in Springfield, Mo., where he was involved in school musicals while growing up. Pitt eventually moved to California just two credits short of graduating college and supported himself with odd jobs (driving strippers in limos, moving refrigerators, dressing as a giant chicken for El Pollo Loco) while trying to get his acting career started.During the late 1980s, Pitt landed a few TV guest spots ("Dallas," "Glory Days") as well as roles in TV films; finally, in 1991, he gained relatively instant stardom as the hitchhiking hunk who seduces Geena Davis in the feature film Thelma & Louise.
Pitt's acting chops cover a wide range, from drama (A River Runs Through It, Legends of the Fall) to action (Fight Club, Troy) to comedy (Snatch, Burn After Reading), earning him Oscar nominations for 12 Monkeys and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
