Amy Adams
Amy AdamsBorn in Italy on Aug. 20, 1974, ginger-haired Amy Adams was raised in Castle Rock, Colo., one of seven siblings in a Mormon family. Aside from a brief stint as a Hooters waitress, Adams moved directly into acting after high school, performing in dinner theater.

Adams landed her first feature-film part in 1999's Drop Dead Gorgeous and after moving to Los Angeles, appeared in a string of TV shows, including "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "That '70s Show." In 2002, she was cast in Serving Sara and Pumpkin, and she delivered an attention-grabbing performance as Leonardo DiCaprio's naive fiancée in Catch Me If You Can.

Adams's breakthrough came with 2005's Junebug, when her Oscar-nominated turn as a pregnant Southern belle caught the eye of audiences and critics. She received another Academy Award nod in 2009 for Doubt and later earned Golden Globe and Oscar nominations for her supporting work in The Fighter (2010).
