A former rock musician turned actress, Windy City native Amy Madigan was born Sept. 11, 1950, the daughter of Chicagoland lawyer and radio personality John Madigan. After making her big-screen debut opposite Beau Bridges in Love Child (1982), Madigan appeared in the Oscar-winning Places in the Heart (1984) before earning an Academy Award nomination herself for Twice in a Lifetime (1985).But the husky-voiced Madigan is perhaps best known for her role as Kevin Costner's put-upon yet indulgent wife in Field of Dreams (1989) and as John Candy's beleaguered girlfriend in Uncle Buck (also 1989).
Among Madigan's other notable works are Pollock (2000), in which she played Peggy Guggenheim to Ed Harris' Jackson Pollock; the cable series "Carnivale"; and the indie drama Winter Passing (2006), in which she again starred alongside Harris.
