A model-actress best known for her buxom blond looks that drew comparisons to movie icon Marilyn Monroe, Anna Nicole Smith was born Vickie Lynn Hogan in Houston on Nov. 28, 1967.After being selected as Playboy magazine's Playmate of the Year in 1993, she began modeling for Guess jeans and expanded her circle to include feature films, accepting small roles in The Hudsucker Proxy and Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult (both 1994), but her acting career never fully took off.
Smith's controversial marriage to elderly oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall -- and the highly publicized court battle between Smith and Marshall's son in the wake of the billionaire's death -- kept her in the spotlight, and she eventually found her niche with "The Anna Nicole Show" (2002-04), a reality series that offered a glimpse into her colorful personal life. She died on Feb. 8, 2007, at the age of 39.
