Art Linkletter
An avuncular TV personality with a knack for mining gems from the mouths of babes, Art Linkletter was born Arthur Gordon Kelly in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, on July 17, 1912. He was given up for adoption as an infant and later moved to the United States with his adoptive parents.

Linkletter became a fixture of American pop culture in the 1950s and '60s as the host of "People Are Funny" and "House Party," a pair of long-running TV variety series that debuted on radio in the 1940s. In particular, he was known for his one-on-one talks with children, whose quips made it into his best-selling 1957 book Kids Say the Darndest Things.

In 1970, Linkletter won a Grammy for the spoken-word recording "We Love You, Call Collect," an emotional ode to parent-child communication he taped with his daughter Diane shortly before her death in 1969. He died May 26, 2010, at the age of 97.
