Ashley Judd was born on April 19, 1968, into a talented family (she's related to country greats Naomi and Wynonna Judd). Ashley chose to forge her own path in Hollywood and first made a splash on television, in the acclaimed series "Sisters."She caught the eye of Hollywood years later in the title role in Ruby in Paradise, followed by Smoke, Heat and The Passion of Darkly Noon. In 1996, Ashley was nominated for both an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe for her arresting performance in the miniseries Norma Jean and Marilyn. She hasn't looked back since.
In quick succession, she starred in hit after hit, including the thrillers Kiss the Girls and Double Jeopardy and the romantic comedy Someone Like You. Still, Judd prefers to ping-pong between genres, moving from the dark High Crimes to the moving Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, the epic Frida to the lively It's De-Lovely.
