Audra McDonald
Audra McDonaldA bona fide Broadway star who earned three Tony Awards before her 30th birthday, Audra McDonald was born in Berlin on July 3, 1970. Raised in Fresno, Calif., she went on to study classical voice at New York's Juilliard School.

In the 1990s, McDonald took the theater world by storm with critically acclaimed performances in "Carousel," "Master Class," "Ragtime" and "Marie Christine." In 2004, she won a fourth Tony Award for her role as Ruth Younger in "A Raisin in the Sun."

Although the actress's resume includes supporting roles in several films, she found even greater success in television, most notably with featured roles in the Emmy-nominated adaptations of "Wit" (2001) and "A Raisin in the Sun" (2008), and a recurring role on "Private Practice." McDonald also starred as Daddy Warbucks's secretary, Miss Grace Farrell, in the small-screen remake of Annie (1999).
