Born Aug. 9, 1978, in the small town of Beaumont, France, doe-eyed Audrey Tautou took drama lessons at the Cours Florent acting school in Paris. Shortly after graduation, she landed roles in films for French television.About this time, Tautou was offered a part in director Tonie Marshall's Venus Beauty Institute (1999), for which she won a César award as Most Promising Actress. She shot to international fame with her starring role in the charming 2001 comedy Amelie (which was nominated for five Oscars, including Best Foreign Language Film).
In 2002, Tautou was cast as a sympathetic woman in love -- and a possible stalker -- in the atmospheric He Loves Me ... He Loves Me Not. She made her English-language film bow in Dirty Pretty Things and later appeared in the 2006 thriller The Da Vinci Code. Her phenomenal performance in the biopic Coco Before Chanel (2009) earned Tautou a BAFTA nod.
