August Schellenberg
August SchellenbergBorn in Montreal July 25, 1936, to parents of Mohawk and Swiss-German ancestry, August Schellenberg spent part of his childhood in foster care. He later trained at the National Theatre School of Canada, eventually touring with theater companies and performing at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival.

During the course of his long career as an actor, Schellenberg has twice played legendary Hunkpapa Lakota chief Sitting Bull -- first in the made-for-TV movie Crazy Horse (1996) and again in the telefilm Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee (2007). The latter portrayal netted him his first Emmy nomination.

Schellenberg's most notable work on the big screen includes a central role in Free Willy (1993) and its subsequent sequels in 1995 and 1997, plus supporting parts in Iron Will (1994), The New World (2005) and Eight Below (2006).
