Born in New York City to comic legends Anne Meara and Jerry Stiller on Nov. 30, 1965, Ben Stiller seemed destined for comedy. After several years of working in New York theatre and helming short films, he launched his own sketch comedy series, "The Ben Stiller Show," in 1990.Though the program's run was brief, Stiller proved he could handle writing, directing and acting. As a result, he put together his first feature, the Generation X comedy Reality Bites, in 1994. His mainstream popularity was secured when he played lovable loser Ted in There's Something About Mary (1998).
While best known for his comedic roles in movies such as Meet the Parents and Starsky & Hutch (both 2004), Stiller has also demonstrated his dramatic chops in Your Friends & Neighbors (1998), Permanent Midnight (1998) and The Royal Tenenbaums (2001). For his work in 2010's Greenberg, he netted an Independent Spirit Award nod for Best Male Lead.
