On the big screen, Vaccaro is best known for her work in the 1969 classic Midnight Cowboy, Airport '77 (1977) and her Oscar-nominated, Golden Globe-winning turn in Once Is Not Enough (1975). She also snagged an Emmy for the TV movie The Shape of Things (1973).
Later in her career, Vaccaro delivered an Emmy-nominated performance as Dr. Jack Kevorkian's sister in the HBO biopic You Don't Know Jack (2010). Her voice can be heard on the classic cartoons "The Smurfs" and "Johnny Bravo."
