Born Bruno Giovanni Quidaciolu Jr. in New York City on April 28, 1949, Bruno Kirby started out as a television actor before breaking into film and landing a high-profile role in Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather, Part II (1974). He portrayed a limo driver in This Is Spinal Tap (1984) and an Army officer in Good Morning, Vietnam (1987).But he's best known for playing Billy Crystal's energetic sidekick -- twice -- in When Harry Met Sally (1989) and City Slickers (1991), high-grossing films that endeared him to audiences worldwide. Kirby stayed busy throughout the 1990s, appearing in The Freshman (1990), The Basketball Diaries (1995), Sleepers (1996) and Donnie Brasco (1997) before turning to occasional television work in the new millennium in "Homicide: Life on the Street" and the HBO series "Entourage."
Kirby died on Aug. 14, 2006, at age 57 from complications due to leukemia.
