After launching their act on radio in the 1930s, the duo branched out into movies in 1940 with One Night in the Tropics. Before the pair split in 1957, they enjoyed a brief run on television with "The Abbott and Costello Show," which spawned an animated series in the 1960s in the wake of Costello's death. Abbott succumbed to cancer April 24, 1974.
