Cathy Moriarty
Cathy MoriartyNominated for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar her first time out of the gate, Cathy Moriarty was just 18 when she wowed audiences and critics with her performance as Robert De Niro's teen bride in Martin Scorsese's Raging Bull (1980). A car accident and personal problems, however, prevented her from capitalizing on that success, and after an appearance in Neighbors (1981), nearly six years passed before Moriarty showed up on the big screen again.

The daughter of Irish immigrants, Moriarty was born in the Bronx, N.Y., on Nov. 29, 1960, and raised in Westchester County. She began acting in dinner theater while still in high school and was begging Scorsese and co-star De Niro for a role in Raging Bull by the time she was 17.

After returning to films in the late '80s, Moriarty turned in notable performances in Soapdish (1991), The Mambo Kings (1992), Casper (1995) and Analyze That (2002).
