Born in the Bronx on May 15, 1946, Chazz Palminteri struggled to become a star, splitting his time between working as a bouncer and acting in off-Broadway plays. His big break didn't come until 1988 with the premiere of his one-man show, "A Bronx Tale," which eventually was made into a movie (1993).The following year, Palminteri earned an Oscar nod for his role as a gangster in Bullets Over Broadway (1994); he then played the other side of the law in The Usual Suspects (1995) and Mulholland Falls (1996) before releasing his second writing effort, Faithful (1996), and taking roles in Hurlyburly (1998) and Analyze This (1999).
In the new millennium, Palminteri tried his hand at directing, helming an episode of the HBO drama "Oz" and the Showtime movie Women vs. Men (2002) before stepping in front of the camera again for Down to Earth (2001), Poolhall Junkies (2003) and In the Mix (2005).
