Cherry Jones
An acclaimed American stage actress who hails from the small town of Paris, Tenn., Cherry Jones was born Nov. 21, 1956. After making her Broadway debut in "Angels in America," she earned her first Tony nod in 1991 for "Our Country's Good."

Jones eventually won a Tony Award -- and became the first openly gay woman to do so -- for her performance in a restaging of "The Heiress." She received another Tony nomination in 2000 with a revival of Eugene O'Neill's "A Moon for the Misbegotten" and nabbed a second statuette five years later for the stage version of "Doubt," originating the role that subsequently brought Meryl Streep an Oscar nod.

Jones has graced the big screen with small but memorable turns in Cradle Will Rock (1999), Erin Brockovich (2000) and Ocean's Twelve (2004). She also scored her first Emmy win for her portrayal of the first female U.S. president on the hit TV drama "24."
