Christine Baranski
A veteran stage and screen actress who excels in over-the-top roles, Christine Baranski was born May 2, 1952, in Buffalo, N.Y. She trained at Juilliard and made her Broadway debut in 1980, nabbing her first Tony Award four years later in the Tom Stoppard play "The Real Thing." (Her second came in 1989 for "Rumors.")

Baranski's best-known television work includes an Emmy-winning supporting turn as Cybill Shepherd's cocktail-swilling friend Maryann on "Cybill" (1995-98). Baranski also earned Emmy nods for guest spots on "Frasier" and "The Big Bang Theory," and for her portrayal of a top-ranking law firm partner on "The Good Wife" (2009-).

On the big screen, Baranski's characters range from a well-kept mistress in Reversal of Fortune (1990) to a snooty Who in How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000). She later showed off her singing chops in the movie musicals Chicago (2002) and Mamma Mia (2008).
