A gangly character actor known for his quirky signature look, Crispin Glover was born in New York City on Sept. 20, 1964, and launched his acting career as a teenager, first appearing onstage opposite Florence Henderson in a regional theater production of "The Sound of Music."But he is most often linked with his portrayal of Michael J. Fox's hapless father, George McFly, in the sci-fi blockbuster Back to the Future (1985), a high-profile role that he declined to reprise for the film's subsequent sequels.
Glover has continued to flex his offbeat talents via supporting roles in a string of mainstream films, including The Doors (1991), What's Eating Gilbert Grape? (1993), The People vs. Larry Flynt (1996), Charlie's Angels (2000), Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle (2003) and Epic Movie (2007).
