A graduate of San Francisco State, Danny Glover received his dramatic training at the Black Actors' Workshop of the American Conservatory Theatre. He was born July 22, 1947, in San Francisco and first drew attention playing a farmhand in Places in the Heart (1984).Glover's other early screen efforts include prominent parts in the 1985 movies Witness and The Color Purple. The role that cemented his star status was as Mel Gibson's partner in Lethal Weapon (1987) and its three sequels (1989, '92 and '98). Glover earned an Emmy nomination in 1989 for his supporting turn in the TV miniseries "Lonesome Dove." He then returned to the big screen with Grand Canyon (1991) and 1994's Angels in the Outfield. In 1998, Glover starred in Beloved and lent his voice to the animated films Antz and The Prince of Egypt.
