The man who became a cult sensation as FBI Agent Fox Mulder was born Aug. 7, 1960, in New York City. He earned an undergraduate degree from Princeton and left Yale (just short of a graduate degree) to study acting in New York.Off-Broadway work led to a bit part in 1988's Working Girl, followed by small parts in Chaplin and Beethoven, and a recurring role on television's "Twin Peaks." Duchovny's deadpan delivery proved a perfect match to "The X-Files" co-star Gillian Anderson's uptight Agent Scully, and they battled aliens and supernatural beings from 1993-2002.
Duchovny directed several episodes of the show and 2004's House of D, in which he also starred. His other film credits include Kalifornia (1993), Return to Me (2000), Evolution (2001) and Full Frontal (2002). Back on the small screen, he copped a 2008 Golden Globe for his lead role in the cable comedy series "Californication."
