The son of a Roman Catholic priest who left the fold to marry, Donal Logue was born in Ottawa Feb. 27, 1966, but spent most of his childhood in El Centro, Calif. Launching his acting career on television, he built a following on MTV as Jimmy the Cabdriver in a series of comic promos.Logue made his feature-film debut in Sneakers (1992), which led to a steady stream of small yet memorable parts in the high-profile movies Gettysburg (1993), Little Women (1994) and Jerry Maguire (1996). But it was the incisive indie flick The Tao of Steve (2000) that finally brought Logue star status -- and earned him a Sundance Special Jury Prize for his performance.
Returning to the tube, Logue found a regular gig as a sitcom patriarch on "Grounded for Life" before taking on supporting roles in Just Like Heaven (2005), The Groomsmen (2006) and the uncommon TV comedy "The Knights of Prosperity" (2006).
