After college, Foxx decided he wanted to try stand-up comedy as a career. Not long after, in 1991, Foxx was cast in "In Living Color." His film career began with a small part in Toys (1992), but the roles got bigger and more memorable in The Truth About Cats & Dogs (1996) and The Great White Hype (1996).
