Jane Wyman
Jane WymanA venerated actress perhaps best known as the ex-wife of former President Ronald Reagan, Jane Wyman was born Jan. 4, 1914, in St. Joseph, Mo. After flirting with Oscar gold thanks to a nomination for The Yearling (1946), she took home the coveted statuette -- and a Golden Globe Award -- for her 24-carat portrayal of a deaf-mute in Johnny Belinda (1948).

Later, Wyman earned an Academy Award nod and a Golden Globe win for The Blue Veil (1951); a special Golden Globe trophy as "World Film Favorite" in 1951; and an Oscar nomination for Magnificent Obsession (1954). Her other noteworthy films include The Lost Weekend (1945) and Pollyanna (1960).

Wyman also enjoyed success on the small screen, scoring two Emmy nods for her work on "Jane Wyman Presents the Fireside Theatre," plus a Golden Globe win for her turn as a domineering matriarch on "Falcon Crest" (1981-1990). She died Sept. 10, 2007.
