Born in Pittsburgh on Oct. 22, 1952, Jeff Goldblum moved to New York City and began working on the stage at age 17. After performing in a variety of on- and off-Broadway productions as well as several films, Goldblum made a big impression on moviegoers as a nervous houseguest struggling to remember his mantra in director Woody Allen's Annie Hall (1977).Goldblum gained further recognition for his portrayal of a tabloid magazine reporter in the 1983 ensemble classic The Big Chill. Eventually, he became known for playing quirky intellectuals and hyperactive oddballs in leading and supporting roles.
Goldblum's other notable films include The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension; The Fly; Jurassic Park and its sequel, The Lost World: Jurassic Park; Independence Day; Igby Goes Down; and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.
