The daughter of actor Vic Morrow and actress-screenwriter Barbara Turner, Jennifer Jason Leigh was born Feb. 5, 1962, in Hollywood. A professional actor since the age of 9, Leigh has become known for playing complex and often disturbed characters.After appearing in several television movies, Leigh's breakout role came in 1982 when she portrayed a naive high school girl who gets an abortion in Fast Times at Ridgemont High. In 1990, she received two Critics Circle awards for her work playing prostitutes in Miami Blues and Last Exit to Brooklyn.
Other notable films include Rush, Single White Female, Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle (for which she earned a Golden Globe nomination), Georgia (for which she earned an Independent Spirit nomination), Dolores Claiborne, Kansas City, The Anniversary Party (which she co-wrote and directed with co-star Alan Cumming) and In the Cut.
