Jennifer Lawrence
A fresh-faced ingénue who graduated from high school two years early to pursue a professional acting career, Jennifer Lawrence was born Aug. 15, 1990, in Louisville, Ky. She moved to New York City to find an agent and got her start taking small roles on television in shows such as "Medium," "Cold Case" and "Monk."

Mainstream audiences may recognize Lawrence as oldest daughter Lauren Pearson from "The Bill Engvall Show" (2007-09), which aired on TBS. But her affecting big-screen portrayal of a put-upon teen in director Debra Granik's Winter's Bone (2010) proved to be Lawrence's breakout performance, netting her higher-profile projects and a slew of awards-season buzz, including Golden Globe and Oscar nominations.

Lawrence also nabbed the Marcello Mastroianni Award for best young emerging actress at the 2008 Venice Film Festival, playing Kim Basinger's daughter in The Burning Plain.
