After graduating from college, Renner won critical acclaim for a lead role in the play "Search and Destroy." This led to film and television offers, with Renner making his big-screen bow in National Lampoon's Senior Trip (1995). Seven years later, he earned an Independent Spirit Award nod with his chilling portrayal of the titular serial killer in the biopic Dahmer.
Renner's other notable works include 28 Weeks Later (2007) and the Iraq War drama The Hurt Locker (2008), which garnered him Oscar and BAFTA nominations and a second Independent Spirit Award nod. More honors came his way with Golden Globe and Oscar nominations for his supporting turn in The Town (2010).
