Talented beauty Jessica Lange was born April 20, 1949, in Cloquet, Minn. She spent her young adult years studying mime and dance in Paris and then returned to the United States to start a modeling career.A much-ballyhooed star search landed Lange the lead in the 1976 remake of King Kong. The resulting critical lambaste almost ended her film career, but she turned things around with The Postman Always Rings Twice (1981). She was Oscar-nominated for both Frances and Tootsie in 1983, winning the Best Supporting Actress statue for the latter.
In 1995, Lange picked up a Best Actress Oscar for Blue Sky (awarded five years after filming because of studio distribution problems). She received additional nods for her roles in Country, Sweet Dreams and Music Box. Other highlights include Cape Fear, Rob Roy and 2009's Grey Gardens (for which she earned her first Emmy and a Golden Globe nomination).
