At age 12, JimMyron Ross was discovered at a Boys and Girls Club in Canton, Miss., and cast -- along with a slew of other unknown local actors -- in Ballast (2008), Lance Hammer's award-winning drama about a struggling family in the Mississippi Delta. For his portrayal of a young troublemaker named James, Ross -- who notes that he was cast against type -- received an Independent Spirit Award nomination.
