John Corbett was born in Wheeling, W. Va., on May 9, 1961, and got his first big break on "The Wonder Years" (1988) playing a hippie who was dating Kevin Arnold's older sister.But the actor's laid-back style really blossomed as philosophizing disc jockey Chris Stevens on the quirky comedy "Northern Exposure" (1990-95), a role that earned him critical acclaim and an Emmy nomination. Joining the cast of the popular HBO dramedy "Sex and the City" thrust Corbett firmly into the limelight, and his portrayal of sensitive urban craftsman Aidan Shaw only solidified his appeal as a rugged and often offbeat nice guy.
Corbett's big-screen credits include Tombstone (1993), Serendipity (2001), My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002), Raising Helen (2004) and Raise Your Voice (2004), a film that inspired him to launch a career in country music.
