Born July 21, 1967, in Tarzana, Calif., Lovitz studied acting at the University of California, Irvine, and performed with the Los Angeles-based comedy troupe the Groundlings before being invited to join "Saturday Night Live" in 1985. Soon, Lovitz was landing roles in everything from TV shows such as "News Radio" to the hit movies Big (1988) and A League of Their Own (1992).
Lovitz's distinctive voice has also been featured prominently in animated shows such as "The Critic" (on which he played the lead) and "The Simpsons." Other notable films for Lovitz include director Woody Allen's Small Time Crooks (2000), The Producers (2005) and The Benchwarmers (2006).
