Actress Judith Light, a soap opera legend who later epitomized the successful working mother in "Who's the Boss?" was born Judith Ellen Licht on Feb. 9, 1949, in Trenton, N.J. After a few years on Broadway, Light won fame and two Daytime Emmys as housewife turned prostitute Karen Wolek in "One Life to Live." Her electrifying turn in the episode "Karen Wolek on the Stand" became a soap classic and helped to earn Light a Soap Opera Hall of Fame award.From 1984 to 1992, Light was a prime-time hit as Angela Bower, an ad exec and single mom who employs housekeeper Tony Danza on the beloved sitcom "Who's the Boss?" In the 1990s, she kept busy with a string of made-for-TV movies, and in 2002, she won critical raves for her performance in the off-Broadway drama "Wit."
In 2006, she became a series regular on "Ugly Betty." Offscreen, Light is also a committed gay-rights activist.
