Kathleen Turner was born June 19, 1954, in Springfield, Mo. The University of Maryland grad's first taste of fame came with a regular role on the soap opera "The Doctors" in the late 1970s.Turner's steamy debut performance in Body Heat (1981) made her one of the leading sex symbols of that decade. She capitalized on this with a 1987 Oscar nomination for Peggy Sue Got Married and by voicing the cartoon character Jessica Rabbit in Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988). Turner's gymnast background has allowed her to do many of her own stunts, especially in Romancing the Stone, Jewel of the Nile and The War of the Roses.
Recently, she's also played Mrs. Robinson in the London production of the stage adaptation of The Graduate. Since the early '90s, her film appearances have been sporadic; notable among them were Serial Mom, Baby Geniuses and Sofia Coppola's The Virgin Suicides.
