Born Aug. 19, 1965, in New York City, Kyra Sedgwick caught the acting bug early, making her television debut at age 15 in the daytime drama "Another World." But it would be several more years till she'd make a splash in Hollywood, starring opposite Tom Cruise in Born on the Fourth of July (1989).Sedgwick went on to memorable roles in Singles (1992) and the Julia Roberts vehicle Something to Talk About (1995), playing her fiery younger sister to critical acclaim. After taking time to concentrate on producing with the cable movies Losing Chase (1996) and Montana (1998), Sedgwick returned to the big screen in 2004's The Woodsman.
The actress has since shifted her focus to series television, charming critics and earning a Golden Globe as well as her first Emmy Award for her portrayal of a sugar-tongued police investigator on the hit drama "The Closer."
