Born June 25, 1975, in Redwood City, Calif., Linda Cardellini was asked to sing a song in a school play at age 10 and has been hooked on performing ever since. Devoting all of her time to plays and acting classes while attending high school, Cardellini landed her first major TV role when she was cast as a student on the creepy kids' show "Bone Chillers" in 1996.Roles in films such as Good Burger, Dead Man on Campus and Strangeland followed, but it wasn't until Cardellini nabbed the part of brainy free-thinker Lindsay Weir on "Freaks and Geeks," the high school show set in the '80s, that she became instantly recognizable to legions of young fans.
Since that show's demise in 2000, Cardellini has moved into more mature roles both on TV (playing Nurse Samantha Taggart on "ER") and in films, including Legally Blonde, two Scooby-Doo movies and Ang Lee's much acclaimed Brokeback Mountain (2005).
