Best known for her portrayal of squeaky-voiced socialite Karen Walker on the long-running sitcom "Will & Grace," only child Megan Mullally was born in Los Angeles Nov. 12, 1958. She developed a yen for an acting career during her days at Northwestern University, where she appeared in campus productions. After a six-year stint on Chicago stages, Mullally scored her first film role, playing a call girl in the 1983 Tom Cruise vehicle Risky Business. Other bit parts followed, and in 1986 she was cast in the TV series "The Ellen Burstyn Show," but it failed to find an audience. Mullally then began making the rounds as a guest star on popular sitcoms such as "Wings," "Seinfeld," "Frasier" and "Mad About You."
In 1998, Mullally hit the TV jackpot when she landed on "Will & Grace," with her scene-stealing work resulting in seven consecutive Emmy nominations and wins in 2000 and 2006.
