Michael C. Hall
Michael C. HallBorn Feb. 1, 1971, in Raleigh, N.C., Michael C. Hall (the "C" stands for Carlisle) honed his acting chops on Shakespeare, appearing in off-Broadway productions of "Cymbeline," "Macbeth," "Timon of Athens" and "Henry V."

Getting cast in the 1998 revival of "Cabaret" soon led to better things when the director, Sam Mendes, recommended Hall to American Beauty scriptwriter Alan Ball, who was looking for someone to play a mortician's closeted gay son on Ball's new series, "Six Feet Under." The emotionally complex role brought Hall a 2002 Emmy nod and a pair of Screen Actors Guild awards for Best Ensemble Cast.

A year after the show ended, Hall returned to television with "Dexter." Portraying the Miami forensics expert who likes to kill murderers in his spare time, Hall has racked up a Golden Globe win and three additional Emmy nominations for his work. His résumé also includes the high-concept thriller Gamer (2009).
