Michael Sheen
A Welsh actor who built his career on portraying historical figures and pop-culture icons, Michael Sheen was born Feb. 5, 1969, in Newport, Wales. He shunned a potentially promising career as a professional footballer to study acting at the National Youth Theatre of Wales, the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.

Sheen was well-respected on stage long before most moviegoers knew who he was. But his spot-on portrayal of British Prime Minister Tony Blair in 2006's The Queen (opposite Oscar winner Helen Mirren) set Sheen up for higher-profile projects. He also played Blair in The Deal (2003) and the HBO film The Special Relationship (2010), which earned him an Emmy nod.

Sheen can also be seen in the Twilight saga as telepathic vampire leader Aro Volturi, and heard as the voice of the White Rabbit in director Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland (2010).
