The progeny of late actor Klaus Kinski, Berlin native Nastassja Kinski was born Jan. 24, 1960, and launched her movie career while in her teens.A series of photos snapped by director Roman Polanski and published in Vogue magazine induced him to award Kinski the title role in Tess (1979): Kinski's amazing portrayal garnered her a Golden Globe for Best New Female Star. She then took on a string of eclectic parts in Cat People (1982); Exposed (1983); Paris, Texas (1984); and The Hotel New Hampshire (1984).
After being absent from American cinema for a few years, Kinski co-starred with Charlie Sheen in the 1994 thriller Terminal Velocity and tackled weightier topics in One Night Stand (1997), Savior (1998) and The Lost Son (1999). Her performances in The Intruder (1999), The Claim (2000) and An American Rhapsody (2001) brought critical acclaim.
