After making a name for himself in the theater community with roles in Williamstown Theater Festival productions such as "Mother Courage" and "Little Oedipus," Chinlund moved to Los Angeles to try his luck in films. He quickly began to nab supporting roles on TV and in movies such as Lethal Weapon 3, Con Air and Training Day (2001).
In 2004, Chinlund earned critical acclaim for his portrayal of a crooner on the verge of his big break in Goodnight, Joseph Parker and appeared with action star Vin Diesel in The Chronicles of Riddick. In 2005, Chinlund landed the role of Detective Sullivan on TV's smash hit "Desperate Housewives."
