Born Dec. 18, 1955, in Newark, N.J., Ray Liotta studied acting at the University of Miami and, in the early '80s, landed a role on the TV soap "Another World." His inauspicious film debut was a bit part in the Pia Zadora camp classic The Lonely Lady. He got luckier his second time at bat, scoring a home run as Melanie Griffith's psycho ex-husband in Something Wild (1986).Liotta dodged typecasting with likable characters in Dominick and Eugene and 1989's Field of Dreams (as baseball great Shoeless Joe Jackson). His most enduring performance may be as real-life mobster Henry Hill in Goodfellas (1990).
Other notable Liotta films include No Escape, Unlawful Entry, Operation Dumbo Drop, The Rat Pack (as Frank Sinatra), Narc and 2000's Hannibal, in which he was, unforgettably, served his own fried brains by Hannibal Lecter.
