Perhaps best known for marrying Natalie Wood -- twice -- Robert Wagner (born Feb. 10, 1930, in Detroit) caddied for Clark Gable before being discovered by a talent scout while dining in Hollywood. After catching the public's eye in With a Song in My Heart (1952), Wagner landed a contract with 20th Century Fox and made a string of films (including 1954's Prince Valiant) that emphasized looks over talent. In 1957, he married Wood in what Hollywood trumpeted as the "most glittering union of the 20th century," but by 1962 the pair had split up. It would be 10 years before Wagner and Wood gave it a second try.
Meanwhile, by the late 1960s, Wagner had parlayed a flailing movie career into a successful TV career with long-running hits such as "It Takes a Thief" and "Hart to Hart." His later credits include a recurring role in the Austin Powers spy spoof franchise.
