After studying drama at the Actors Studio, Silver made his film debut in 1976's Tunnel Vision, the same year he landed a role on the sitcom "Rhoda." Splitting his time between stage and screen, Silver won a Tony Award in 1988 for his role in "Speed-the-Plow" and received his first Emmy nod the same year for his work in Billionaire Boys Club.
